The few moments I took to myself prior to my surgical visit, I was not expecting a blessing like this. I'm so happy I was able to spend a few minutes with these gentle giants. Yes, it's a rule of mine, I must always talk to animals in a tone that drives the rest of the world completely batty, LOL

Flash is an 18 month old Mountain Cur, approximately 50lbs with the stamina of a natural born athlete. I apologize for the shakiness of the video, but as you can see, Flash LOVES to run. His 5K split was just over 25 minutes. He could have gone faster, but he had me slowing him down, LOL. This was the first time Flash has run wearing a harness, first time meeting me, running through our logging trail and later meeting our two Alaskan Malamutes. Flash has a very likeable personality with humans & dogs. Flash would excel in a very active home, especially if his humans love to run canicross.

He has not had obedience training, but after just a bit of exercise, he was happy to "comply" with basic verbal commands. He is neutered and up to date on his required vaccines. Flash is currently located at:

Fenway has always loved fetch, but this new ball get's her "extra" excited. There's a squeaky ball within a squeaky ball + the ball rolls unevenly with 2 "handles on each side.

We woke up to a gorgeous partly sunny morning in the low 40's. Koda was very excited to don his Howling Dog Alaska harness, hitch up to the bike & let loose. He clearly LOVES to run and pull. His tail was up and curled on the way out & back. Please note that under normal circumstances, when bike-joring, the dog leads out front. In this case, I rode alongside Koda for the sole purpose of showing his gait.

Koda is a neutered male Alaskan Malamute looking for his fur-ever home. He will turn 6 years of age on December 3rd, 2008. Koda was signed over to the Otsego County Animal Shelter on Oct 3rd, 2014. (Gaylord, MI) Koda is being fostered at our home until we find the perfect match for this special boy. Koda has primarily lived outdoors but is house trained and enjoys cuddle time on the couch and bed. He knows sit, shake and down and loves to give his big ol' paw to earn a treat. He is incredibly happy and friendly. He gets along with both male and female dogs but NOT cats. He has not been taught to not jump up but is getting MUCH better at keeping all 4 pawz on the ground when meeting new friends, due to his size alone, he may not be the right match for a family with very small children or the elderly. He walks OK when wearing only a collar and leash but has room for improvement. He walks perfectly when wearing a no pull harness. He is up to date with his vaccinations & has been micro-chipped. He was tested for heart worms in June 2014 and tested negative. He is flea free. The last week in September, Koda injured his eye and he gets eye drops a few times each day ~ his eye is healing well and has not appeared to have affected his vision in any way. On the 3rd of October, Koda weighed in at 98 pounds. As of the 10th of October he had already lost 5 lbs. He needs to lose another 5, perhaps 10 lbs to get to a healthier weight for his frame. We have Koda's AKC Dog Registration application form, so you will be able to officially register him with the AKC if you would like to.

We were surprised with warmer weather today and felt we could not pass up the chance to get more work in with the boys and their bike-joring training. We rolled the dice and chose the logging road. Conditions were 33 degrees, clear skies, light north wind and mud, more mud, slop, mud, snow, ice, mud, ice, mud, deep slippery mud, smooth slick snow and mud. Combine this together and it equals, HAPPY muddy dogs! The boys did fantastic, truly fantastic.

Thank you so much to Gina P. and her sweetheart Alaskan Malamute Keo. Our family has faced a great deal of tragedy and loss recently. I knew it was a shot in the dark because the weather was rather hot & humid, but I asked Gina if she would mind letting my nephews, Jacob 7 and Corbin 3, meet Keo & perhaps go for a cart ride. As you'll see in the video, Keo comes by his nick-name honestly ~ Panda ~ he is a large, fluffy, strong and friendly cuddle bug that children of all ages love. My Mom, brother and sister in law had just as much fun watching the boys (and I) laugh, howl and giggle with Keo. Thank you Gin P., so very much.

Miss Miki remains mesmerized each & every time she gets to hear the Malamute's howl.

This was the first time AJ has been away since we adopted Baylee and oh my goodness was she HAPPY!!!

Tucker is not normally a fetch lover, but he can't help but get excited over this new toy. It's a squeaky toy INSIDE a second squeaky ball! All 5 dogs rate it a 5 out of 5 ~ Pure bliss ^o^
